Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. This could be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in the churchyard by Chris, regardless of whether they attended church or not.

The message at a Church of England funeral is one of hope.  Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, the Christian faith embodies a strong message of hope in life after death.

Whatever your link to the person who has died, our church is here to offer support to you afterwards, whether the funeral has happened recently or many years ago.

Please make contact with Chris if you would like to discuss arrangements for a funeral.  He will endeavour to support you, and to help you give thanks to God for the unique person you knew and loved, in a way that gives comfort and hope.
